David’s background includes a Bachelor of Art degree in Commercial Art and Mass Communication and a Master of Arts degree from Ohio University, where he was the 2001-02 Knight Fellow for Newsroom Graphics Management. David worked for more than six years as art director and assistant photo editor at The State Journal-Register in Springfield, Illinois, where he won design, photography and illustration awards. After deciding he wanted to return to photography, he left his full-time job to return to graduate school. After receiving his Master of Arts degree from Ohio University, he was hired as a staff photographer at the Naples (Florida) Daily News. While there, David won numerous awards for his photography, including runner-up photojournalist of the year for newspapers under 115,000 circulation in the 2006 National Press Photographers Association Best of Photojournalism contest.
Now working as a freelance photographer and designer, in addition to weddings, David’s client’s include The New York Times, Consumer Reports, The Los Angeles Times, USA Today, MSNBC.com, Christian Science Monitor, Bloomberg News, and Case Western Reserve and Duke universities.
